If you've never been to a gulet before, you'll be in for some surprise, these schooners are magnificent wooden yachts! Whether family, friends or a mixed group, there is a lot of fun for everyone. Gulet yacht between 15 to 60 meters, from 2 to 16 cabins, all with private bathrooms, air conditioning in the cabins and plenty of space on deck, you will spend most of your time here.
Life on board is slow; When you wake up, you may find that you are no longer in the bay where you fell asleep. The captain has moved the yacht to another pine-covered bay, where all you can hear is the sound of goats on the slope and lapping of the water. Coffee and tea are available as soon as you wake up, this is the best time to swim, the sea is as calm as it is at this time of day. Hardly a wave to be seen and hardly a soul with whom one can share the clear blue water.
Once everyone is gathered, breakfast can be served - all meals are served at a large, large, shaded table "behind" the boat. Breakfast consists of a delicious selection of cheese, olives, tomatoes, eggs and much more. Homemade bread that is prepared by the chef in a short time. It's like art and some magic. The cooking is like in a 5 star restaurant. Around the clock service all day you will be rewarded. Nothing is missing. Almost everything is offered by the village boats. Treat yourself to an ice cream.
Then, with the rest of the day ahead of you, you have plenty of options to organize the day ... whether you want to read a book on a sun lounger at the bow of the boat or relax in the huge padded area by the sea. Alternatively, you can be active and do water sports - water skiing is an option or you can explore the bays by canoe.
As experienced charterers, we spend our day swimming and snorkeling from morning to lunch. Great. Despite breakfast, probably because of the fresh air, we all starve to death until noon and get a delicious selection of mediterrianen specialties again. Meze dishes, filled peppers, hearty pastries and salads, crisp white or rosé wine, fresh fruit ..... In some bays there are ancient ruins that have not yet been excavated and are often overgrown with fragrant thyme and oregano and the captain will take you to these bays in the dinghy.
We "dress" for dinner ... well, we take a nice hot shower and take off our swimwear, be careful ... on a Blue Cruise you don't need much clothes, a good selection of swimwear, cover ups and a few Evening outfits shoes aren't allowed on board, so it's not only the best vacation ever, but also the easiest vacation to pack for.
We'll meet again on deck for a drink at sunset, followed by an exquisite dinner (by the way, Turkey's BEST chefs say they're all on gulets!) And again we organized some fun; one evening we do a thriller, another evening we play Monopoly, sing along to Mamma Mia, 70s disco night, the only consideration is not to make too much noise so that other boats in the bay are disturbed! The great thing about a gulet trip is that no matter how little or how much you prefer, the entertainment is entirely up to you. There are often board games on board (!). But take some playing cards with you and get everyone to bring a quiz / organize some entertainment.
Depending on the route, you can "eat out" in one evening - this can be a beach hut with freshly grilled fish, or your route takes you to one of the larger coastal towns such as Bozburun, Selimiye and Fethiye were the captain gives the best tips on local restaurants.
A fabulous day is over and your cabin awaits you. You will be very surprised how tired you are at the end of the day.
Sleeping on deck on quiet, starry nights is an experience not to be missed.
